Evolution Time Critical launches new Iberia office

Worldwide logistics specialist Evolution Time Critical has launched an all-new logistics control centre in Porto, servicing the Iberian peninsula. Operational from September 2022, the Iberian office will expand Evolution’s capabilities in a significant and growing market with close ties to the automotive sector.

As manufacturing and export costs in China rise rapidly, European original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are finding cost-competitive options closer to home. At the same time, the immense disruption brought on by the global pandemic has seen many businesses seek to ‘near shore’ as much of their supply chain as possible, easing potential disruption.

Off the back of these new requirements, Iberia is seeing substantial growth in its automotive industry. Spanish automotive exports grew by 12.8% in 2021 and Portugal mirrored this growth at 12.7%, with a combined total of 21 automotive OEMs present. Spain is Europe’s second-largest automotive manufacturing region with an estimated revenue of €35 billion.

Growing OEM interest in near-shoring highlights the demand and requirement for dedicated logistics assistance in the region. Evolution is now well-placed to provide expanded support and on-the-ground services to its customers. The new office will also enable Evolution to service other local markets, with potential growth in areas like high fashion.

The team will be led by Ricardo Santos who has been solving transportation problems for over 15 years in the Iberian Peninsula.  Ricardo will lead a team of five specialists with over 75 years of experience focused on providing transport solutions to meet any deadline.

Graham Little, managing director at Evolution Time Critical, commented: “We are excited to expand our capabilities in Spain and Portugal. With the increasing reliance of Europe-based OEMs on Iberia’s rapidly growing automotive industry, this new control centre will be perfectly positioned to provide immediate and comprehensive support. Our Iberian centre follows the recent establishment of our office in China and further demonstrates our commitment to supporting customers with a complete global solution and ‘boots on the ground in all supply chain hotspots.”

The new Iberia office will directly link with Evolution’s existing control centres in the UK, USA, Germany and China. With an expanding global network and dedicated regional specialists, ETC is solidifying its position as one of the world’s most versatile and connected emergency logistics providers.
